The City reports progress on uplifting Downtown Eastside Motion

Council on ongoing efforts to advance directions in the November 2023 approved Council motion, . The motion called for a range of actions to support improved social, economic and health outcomes for residents of the Downtown Eastside (DTES) and addresses the complex challenges they face. This includes efforts to increase supportive housing and services for those dealing with homelessness and mental health and substance use issues.

Council approves directions for the Healthy Waters Plan

Council for the that will guide long-range sewage and rainwater management in Vancouver. The recommendations will help manage the pace and financial impacts of sewer infrastructure investments, achieve better water quality outcomes and help address climate change impacts like flooding.

Expo Deck south of Science World to close indefinitely

Vancouver Seawall and Seaside Greenway Path users are advised that out of an abundance of caution from a recent structural assessment, . The closure will be in place while the City continues to assess the condition of the aging Expo Deck structure that supports this segment of the seawall pathway.

Share your thoughts on proposed changes to Vancouver’s liquor serving hours

The City is inviting those who live, work and play in Vancouver to at restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs.

Proposed changes would allow:

- All bars, pubs and nightclubs in Downtown to apply to stay open until 3 am every night of the week. These hours are currently permitted in some areas Downtown.
- All restaurants in Vancouver that are licensed to serve alcohol to apply to serve until 2 am every night of the week.

Input on the future of downtown Granville Street

The City is on the future of downtown Granville Street. Until February 23, 2025, those who live, work and play in Vancouver are invited to share their thoughts on how downtown Granville Street could transform into a welcoming, vibrant and safer entertainment district, while preserving the unique history that makes the area special.

Auditor General releases 2024 Whistleblower Report

Vancouver’s Auditor General Mike Macdonell released his 2024 Whistleblower report. This is the since Council reassigned responsibility for whistleblowing to the Auditor General beginning January 2024. The policy authorizes the Auditor General to receive reports and investigate allegations of serious wrongdoing. This includes fraud, waste or other serious misuse of public funds or resources, as well as conflicts of interest likely to profit a City employee.

New strategy launched for market rental housing on City land

The City of Vancouver is to delivering market rental housing under the , with a to develop on City land at Pacific and Hornby Street.

Led by the Vancouver Housing Development Office (VHDO), this initiative will enable the delivery of market rental housing on City land while piloting a new way to generate non-tax revenue for the City.

City of Vancouver maintains top credit rating and stable outlook
