Take the City’s UN Quality of Life Survey through October 1

Vancouver is on quality of life, as one of 11 cities worldwide invited to join the pilot by the UN. As part of this program, the City of Vancouver is inviting residents to complete a new Quality of Life Survey. The survey is open until October 1 and takes about 10 minutes to complete. .

Water Street Pedestrian Zone Pilot wraps up, street reopened to vehicles on September 6

After a lively summer that transformed sections of Gastown into a vibrant, people-first destination with shared seating, expanded patios, and artwork courtesy of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, the Water Street Pedestrian Zone Pilot has now concluded. The City is conducting an economic impact study to assess the pilot's effects on local businesses, and staff will continue observing public life to compare it with data collected during the pilot.

Lime launches shared e-scooter program in East Vancouver

Lime officially in Vancouver, with 100 e-scooters and 27 parking stations across Hastings-Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland. In collaboration with the City of Vancouver, the parking stations were designed to make a clear end-of-trip location while keeping streets safe and uncluttered. .

North end of Granville Bridge to reopen on Monday with priority for transit into downtown

The north end of the Granville Bridge for transit headed downtown. The newly constructed, elevated roadway section of Granville Street, north of Pacific Street, replaces the former north loops and a section of bridge structure, as part of the Granville Connector project. This work will transform the way we use the bridge by creating safer, more convenient access to active transportation and transit while enabling future improvements. .

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services honour Captain Ron Hegedus

Capt. Hegedus passed away on August 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with occupational cancer.

Vancouver seeks to fast-track social and co-operative housing

In response to City Council’s directive to accelerate affordable housing, the City is as part of a comprehensive transformation of the development process. These changes aim to simplify and expedite the construction of social and cooperative housing by non-profits. If approved, Vancouver’s Social Housing Initiative would eliminate the need for individual rezonings, which can be costly and unpredictable.

Vancouver Enhances Short-Term Rental Rules to Align with Provincial Legislation

Vancouver City Council , further aligning it with the Province’s recently enacted . To strengthen enforcement, the City will also be requesting that the Province amend the Vancouver Charter to allow municipal tickets to be served by registered or electronic mail. .

83 new affordable homes completed in Downtown Vancouver
